Setting up a Wireless Signal in your home doesn't need to be a Difficult task

By Randall Mayne

In order to access the Internet without wires, you will need a router. It goes without saying that wireless technology is by far better than having to deal with tangled wires.

Having a wireless signal in your home is perfect for your laptop computer. It's awesome to be able to move freely anywhere in your home. Every wireless router has a standard signal range.

If you're planning on installing a wireless router in your home, here are some basic guidelines to follow. Simple set up is so easy. First decide which router you want to buy.

Several different companies manufacture wireless routers. In terms of major differences, we look at speed and technology. If you want the flexibility to use any wireless device, computer or phone, you'll want to use 802.11g technology.

You do want to double check and make sure that your wireless device supports wi-fi. If your computer doesn't support wi-fi right out of the box, you'll need to purchase a wi-fi adapter that plugs into your USB port.

Wireless signals are supported by every major brand of laptop computers. Unplugging your modem is the next step in preparing your wireless signal for use.

To connect your modem to the router, simply plug in the cat 5 cable into the Internet ports on both the modem and router. Next, you'll need to power up your laptop.

Once everything is powered up and running, you will see your computer automatically connect to the router. Since this is the first time you've set up your router, you'll be asked to configure your password and user name. Setting up your wireless network is now complete. It's so simple, anyone can do it.
