Oracle's Local Cloud Hub Expands to Meet Demand

By Ron Williams

Oracle has openly proclaimed that the future of technology is in the Cloud and they are offering all their latest innovations with Cloud based services. So, it is not surprising that the technology giant is expanding the cloud hub in Australia to keep up with the demand.

With many Australian businesses and individuals embracing the new cloud approach along with growing expectations, Oracle's expansion has allowed them to keep their data on-shore.

The new data center in Sydney

The second Oracle data center opened just recently, and is operated by a firm called Equinix. The main focus at Oracle for this, is an expansion into platform & Infrastructure solutions, along with their cloud services increase. The opening also marked the collaboration of Oracle with a few of its latest clients including i3000, Wired2Cloud, SDS Group and Vensys Consulting.

The Future for Oracle's Australia

Mark Hurd, president of Oracle, attended the opening of Australia's newest facility. He stated a clear conviction to Australia, not only for its' IT industry, but to the entire country.

He lavished praise on the country, saying that it is one of the better and stable markets in the world. Mr. Hurd vaguely mentioned that a rather big investment was made to build the facility, never specifically stating a dollar amount. He mentioned a specific need for Oracle cloud training programs to become widespread for the many IT professionals blooming in Australia. Oracle said that the demand for cloud services will only increase in the coming months and this new data center is their way of preparing for that demand.
