Is Buying a Used iPhone Worth It?

By Mike Gee

The internet has now become the foremost choice for consumers when it comes to researching, buying, and selling their products. To gain the maximum revenue from this new market segment, online entrepreneurs regularly use discounts and other promotional price deductions to reward their visitors.

There is one more option that you can avail. Consider buying a used Apple iPhone 3GS or some other model because this will save quite a lot of money. However, you have to figure out if the tradeoffs are worth it or not. So before buying a used Apple iPhone 3GS or a newer model, the following points must be taken into account.

Battery: However good the battery life may be, it always decreases with time. A used iPhone will always have a shorter life than compared to a brand new one. The downside is that the battery cannot be replaced. If your chosen iPhone has not been used much, the battery life should suffice but if it is over a year old, then think again.

Usually these products are sold simply because the owners want to replace them with newer devices and that is why you have a great chance of getting your hands on a model that runs well even though it is used.

Capacity: Used models are available at much lower prices but the capacity is also decreased considerably. Older phones had 4 GB of storage whereas new phones have as much as 64 GB. The iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 offer up to 32 GB but this may not be enough for some of you.

Drives: Make sure you have a DVD on you when you are examining the Mac. This will help you verify the optical drives. You should also ask for all the installation DVDs whenever buying old Apple's products because you never know when you might need them.

Previously, you needed outlets like garage sales and pawn shops to sell your old items. But with the popularity of the internet, the process has become much easier and more rewarding as well. And we are not talking about average shopping sites. Many reputable distributers have websites which means that if you have kept your iPad in good condition, you can expect to get almost 50% or more of the original price, which is not a bad bargain. So with iPad trading, you are not only earning some extra cash, but also helping others to benefit from Apple's technology at lower prices.
