What Are Bluetooth For Computers?

By Alexandra Brown

Bluetooth is becoming more and more popular at his time. Not only can it be found in mobile phones, but it also is very useful in other gadgets such computers. For us to be able to understand more about this discussion, let us first talk about what Bluetooth really is. Bluetooth is a kind of technology that has the ability to interact and exchange data with other Bluetooth-enabled device and it is a wireless system protocol just like many other communication protocols such as FTP, HTTP, SMTP and IMAP. Unlike the slow moving world that we had before, this kind of technology helps people to keep up with a fast paced world. It is known to most people that the method of communication before is primitive and slow. With the help of technological advancements, newer methods and ways are now available to be utilized for man to have faster communication process.

Telecoms vendor ericsson was first to use Bluetooth to solve the problems of synchronizing many devices. Because of the discovery of Bluetooth in 1994, transferring of file has become easier and hassle-free. Bluetooth technology uses only a low 2.45 GHz frequency but has the ability to transfer files from one communication data to another. That is one of the many reasons why it is widely used in mobile phones and other devices like computers.

Unlike other devices that have the possibility to disrupt and interfere with data communication, use of Bluetooth in data exchange is considered harmless. Aside from that, another advantage of using Bluetooth is that it cannot interfere with other electronic devices because of the weak signals that it uses consuming only 1mw.

People may ask how to be able to add Bluetooth enabled devices to their computer, which is why we have provided with answers to that question. Below are two things that are required to be done for you to be able to check if your computer and device are compatible and ready to connect:

1. Checking whether your computer has a built in Bluetooth adapter should be the first thing to do. If your computer does not have a built in Bluetooth adapter, you can add it manually by simply plugging it into a USB port. Most computers nowadays, especially laptops, come with built-in Bluetooth adapter. Turning the Bluetooth switch on your laptop or turning on the adapter will enable you to use the Bluetooth function of your computer. For people who are not quite sure whether their computer comes with a built in Bluetooth adapter, you can heck the computer manual to check that information. Checking the computer manual may also provide you information on how to turn on the Bluetooth adapter.

2. Next thing that you need to do is setting up the Bluetooth-enabled device so that your computer will be able to find it. You can do this by turning the device on and making sure that it is discoverable. Once the device is in discoverable mode, it sends a wireless signal to other Bluetooth-enabled devices that allows it to be detected by other mobile phones, computers and other devices. Thus you will be able to pair your Bluetooth-enabled device to your computer and this is also called the pairing mode.

Other advantages of Bluetooth technology over using wires and cable connectors is its ability to reach about 32 feet and being wireless and automatic. Because of this, people are now able to disregard using cable wires and connectors which usually end up being accidentally tied which may be a hassle for some if not most.
