First Rate All The Way - Nikon Waterproof Digital Camera Review

By Evan Adams

I really like it. I've owned this camera for about 3 months. I thought I had bought an indestructible camera for my teenage daughter. This camera did NOT function out of the box. While all of these were preventable, they don't detract from the overall value of this camera. I purchased this for upcoming travel in a harsh environment likely to test each of its waterproofing, shock proofing and dustproofing. I do however with there was a view finder so taking pictures in the dark would be easier. This is my second stylus water proof camera.

The screen is full of water. I am over it.

However if it's an amazing photos you want this might not be the camera for you. Only a couple years newer than the 790W, but the display is brighter, sharper, and the video capability is awesome. This make it difficult to take a one handed shot. The body is VERY SLIPPERY and no texture to help with your grip.

I shoot Canon (SLR and a point and shoot) so I knew I would be facing an adjustment, but I refuse to sacrifice image quality. The picture quality was awful, even in normal, non-low light, situations.

I also saw the same issue with poor focusing on anyone/anything moving. Rugged Design and feel Cons: Needing to hook up to a PC to "initialize" the camera I just bought this camera at best buy in Miami on vacation.

This camera has got to be the most unintuitive point and shoot I've ever seen or used. I don't even care about the image quality, even if it were outstanding, the interface and poor design would steer me away.

So far, I love it! I had to buy this camera for my boyfriend who is currently in Afghanistan. I didn't do this and was not actually aware of that. It seems a bit high maintenance. I have taken roughly 2000 pictures and despite sending it to an Olympus rep and reading the manual cover to cover (which I rarely ever do) I still cannot get this camera to focus properly. I actually had to buy a cheap Polaroid digital camera in Rome to salvage some pictures during a recent trip. It is a little heavier than I expected and a little bigger (buying a case for it was a little tricky). Overall it is a nice looking camera that is easy to use.
