I have already ordered the 2 gig memory stick from Crucial and will take care of that as soon as possible. Wanted to try the 1 gig first and while it is quite fast for a small netbook with 1.66 GHz processor, 2 gigs of memory will make a big difference.
Once that little learning curve is achieved, you get a better feel for what this little gem is capable of, and your respect for it allows you to cut it a bit of slack and get the most out of what it can do so well. In fact, you really come to appreciate programs with a smaller footprint and you start dumping the bloated old geezers you are used to. I realized how with simple upgrades it worked great, was portable, and did everything nicely. I decided I wanted one. Removed the Norton and put on Microsoft Security Essentials. My wife chose it for the touch pad which supports multi-touch natively.
So it might be an issue that gets solved over time. Runs super-fast with Ubuntu on it now! I have older Toshiba laptops with excellent experience, in fact they are still working (WIN98, 450Mb HD, 64Mb RAM)! I decided to take the risk and bought the netbook from Amazon. The screen is bright, vibrant, and clear. I only need this machine for web surfing and email, but I find it to be very good at playing music and videos as well. It cannot play back 720 or higher video. And, its playback of 480 is probably only ok by most people's standards.
I have had this netbook for 8 months. This is not a bad computer and pretty simple to use. I would consider myself a power user of Word and Excel and use this machine easily for both. With a "cloud" service to manage documents it is very seamless to use this machine to be productive on the road. This is a great little notebook. This is great for surfing the internet, shopping, and emailing.
Volume and monitor functions are better handled with software applets. Suspend and hibernation work, but very slowly. One thing I noticed is that it is indeed sluggish. Netflix didn't play without hiccups; hopefully the RAM fixes that.
Keyboard is sufficient, with quiet keys. Also you'll need it to run, assuming u upgrade to Home Edition 7, instead of standard STARTER Version 7, so there's another $80.
The quality and structure is very nice. I upgraded the ram to 2 GB after using it for about a day.

My only reason for a non 5 star review is that I had to buy a USB wireless card because Ubuntu would not find and install my built in Realtek 8188 wireless card. DELONGHI SUPER AUTOMATIC ESPRESSO MACHINE.
