Who Says It Doesn't Work? - Easy To Use Digital Camera Review

By Brandon Lewis

I left the water and dried off the camera and discovered that salt water had gotten in to the battery compartment and shorted everything out. The other camera had survived the fall from the car, grade IV whitewater inside and outside my life vest and multiple underwater uses.

Right off the bat, the front fascia (blue in my case) was easily dented by the charging cord bumping against it (which later cost me a restocking fee when I returned it because it was "damaged"). I thought it was supposed to be tough!

If you were talking, sure it's not a problem. So if you take a lot of movies, you might want to go with another camera. In coastal regions, any non-clear water will almost ruin any pictures used with flash. Zooming doesn't really help for the above reasons. Otherwise, it is fantastic! If you follow the instructions, it is easy to use, with no leaking possible.

I need more zoom distance for all the scenic views. Had my first spill in the Kayak and the camera did not pass the test of being water proof.

The Panoramic auto function has messed up on me a few times by not detecting the edge till late and stitching images together with too big of gap to match. It doesn't have a high depth rating but you get what you pay for and 16ft is more than enough for snorkeling and shallow diving but I wouldn't take it too close to that without an external case. The screen is full of water. I am over it. We are thinking of buying another on just for us! The camera is great, just that it didn't come with any real instructions, like most cameras do.

I was constantly trying to figure out how to change them and often would give up and go for the automatic--which never was very good. I finally started taking them in automatic and changing the lighting and such in a computer editing program.

We liked the camera so much we just bought our daughter one for her birthday, and will buy another one so the wife and I won't have to share. I bought this camera for a trip to Kauai (in fact, there now as I write this). Movies are spectacular, while the screen shows good reproduction, its nothing like once you get it on your computer! The metal lens protector on the front will move and not bounce back to position if the camera is turned off.

The normal Sequential is a little slow for my liking but the High speed more than makes up for it. It allows you to add voice recording to any picture, but you can't delete it in the camera so if you mess up you lose space till you get to a computer. Anyways, I was not happy with my vacation pictures, mainly because it did not produce 100% crystal clear picture quality. It may be a good camera to give to the kids but don't count on this as your main camera. Welcome to the reality of point and shoot digital cameras where shutter lag can vary by tenths of a second between models, oh please! It's all good!
